Humika™

Part of the Carbon-aided program

History

This product has been produced by Alpha Agri-Products Inc since 2001 and field tested since the fall of 2002. Humika™ was designed to give farmers good yield returns on low investment. Many of the field plots averaged 10-15% yield increases under different soil conditions. It was found that Humika™ worked best in soil conditions with organic matter (O.M) below 5%. Testing was done by a third party to assure non partisan results.

What is Humika™?

Humika™ is a liquefied lignite coal; it is very high in organic carbon and trace elements.

To understand how Humika™ works we need to take a closer look at the natural cycle of living plants. All living plants grow because of a process we know as photosynthesis, during the plant’s life it takes in energy from light and converts the energy into sugar or starch. As the plant dies the energy it collected will be converted from sugar into other forms of energy. This is how once-living trees now fuel our vehicles and heat our homes. As living plants die, bacteria and fungi start breaking down every fibre and convert tonnes into grams of organic material. In the case of lignite coal this process took place over thousands of years, after a world wide flood when entire forests were swept into large pools of what we now know as our coal and oil deposits. As the wood of these giant forests started to decompose (without oxygen) all the energy that was collected during life was transformed to oil, shale, and coal. As we go through the different layers of coal, we see that different layers have formed. The raw material that we use in the production of Humika™ is a layer between shale and lignite. The raw material is of a very dark brown to black appearance and is in a solid form.

Humika™ undergoes a lengthy process to convert the solid lignite into a totally water soluble product. Many of our competitors fail at this process and destroy the trace elements that make our product so successful.

How does it work in the field?

As discussed previously energy is converted from one form to another, this is the second law of thermodynamics at work. Some of the energy is converted into humic acid and some into fulvic acid. Humic acid in simple terms is old plant energy available to grow plants, while fulvic acid is best described as a natural electrolyte. Fulvic acid has a low molecular weight and can easily transport minor elements into plant roots or leaf surfaces (translocation).

Humika is a N.N.C. Because of the high levels of organic carbon Humika™ is ideally suited for N.N.C or bio-remediation. If you know that your fields have high sodium levels or have been exposed to chemical pollutions please call us and we will help solve your problem economically.
